MICRONEEDLING

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling uses very fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries within the skin.  This stimulates the body’s natural healing processes, particularly in the mid layer of skin (the dermis).  The healing process releases growth factors, promotes collagen and elastin synthesis and skin remodelling – improving skin texture, firmness and elasticity overtime. It is also known as ‘collagen induction therapy’.

A course of microneedling treatments will involve 3-4 individual sessions of microneedling 4-6 weeks apart.  Depending on the goals of treatment, microneedling may be combined with other treatments.  These include PRP (Platelet rich plasma) or exosomes.

What is Dr Emma’s approach to Microneedling?

Microneedling is an excellent low risk treatment suitable for all skin tones and skin types. It can be used for several indications or just to give a general glow up – perfect before big events such as weddings.

What can Microneedling treat?

Microneedling can help with acne scarring, facial rejuvenation and stretch marks and hair-loss.

Downtime and aftercare

Numbing cream will be used over the face before microneedling sessions. After the treatment, skin becomes very red and will feel hot and tight. You will be given a serum to apply regularly after the treatment. The redness will settle within 1-2 days.
